DirecTV Corporate Campus | El Segundo, CA

The central plaza of this corporate campus is surrounded by two 13-story office buildings and a 13-story parking structure.  The design called for the central courtyard to be closed to vehicular traffic and replaced with a pedestrian promenade.  Multi-colored paving bands create a connection between the sister campus next door, cafeteria, central plaza and new amenity area.  Strong geometric shapes in both the paving and landscape give visual interest when viewed from the offices high above.

Date palms set in raised planters create a canopy high above the promenades, and screen the view of the imposing high rises above.  Custom ipe wood benches were set into the raised planters to promote outdoor lounging, and a granite fountain with a glowing glass tiled wall sits in the center of the plaza as a focal point to both promenades.
