Tetherow Neighborhood Park | Bend, OR

SZABO worked with the Tetherow owners and homeowners to develop the neighborhood park, which is nestled into the existing native landscape.  Several factors helped shape the park design, including the preservation of native ponderosa pine trees, re-purposing the existing turf farm area as an open lawn area, utilizing the existing infiltration basins on-site, and preserving a generous native landscape buffer to the adjacent neighborhood development.  Program elements include a neighborhood pool, community garden, off-street parking, native and traditional playground elements, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic shelter, restroom facilities, basketball courts and volleyball court.  The landscape character will be predominantly native high desert and low-water-use plant material.  Any trees cut down during development will be incorporated back into the site as nature play elements and site furnishings.
