SZABO Landscape Architecture is a design-forward, full-service landscape architecture studio based in Bend, Oregon, working across Central Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and select projects beyond the region. Established in 2014, the studio has grown into a trusted partner for architects, developers, institutions, and homeowners seeking planning and design that complement architecture and respond to the local environment.
Our goal is to create spaces that connect people to nature while quietly raising the quality of everyday life. On every project, we begin by studying the site, including natural topography and site features, circulation patterns, drainage patterns, plant material, wind and solar patterns, and other elements that help guide our design. Our process is rooted in listening to the client, to the architecture, and to the site itself. Early in the project, we invest time in understanding the program, budget, maintenance capacity, and long-term vision, then translate those conversations into clear concepts that make complex site decisions easy to follow.
From there, we refine the design through an iterative, collaborative process, testing grading moves, studying views and privacy, and curating materials and planting palettes that feel both contemporary and enduring. We bring the technical discipline needed for demanding conditions, including steep slopes, sensitive waterways, and tight urban sites, while maintaining a sense of ease and simplicity in the final experience.
Every project is guided by respect for the natural environment and a commitment to designing spaces that mature beautifully over time. We design with regionally appropriate materials and thoughtful detailing so our landscapes are both resilient and attractive.

Our studio is in a historic building in Bend’s vibrant, walkable downtown with easy access to shops, dining, parks, and riverfront paths.
